..:.:.:: Ayers Mighty Quin ::.:.:..
As you can see in the photo on the left, Quins' right ear didn't want to stay up. She would hold it up at times, but not consistently. She is about 5 ½ months old in these pictures.

To help hold the ear up while the cartilage time to firm up we used a technique recommended by our breeder. Using this technique, which only works on a coated GSD, Quin didn't have to cruise around town with teepee ears.

To hold the ear up, grab a bit of the long hair at the rear bottom of the ear (see it all sticking up around her ear when it's down?). Twist the hair so that you have a twine like piece. As you pull on the twisted hair the ear should stand up. If not, take the hair from a little higher up on the ear. As you pull the twisted hairs, place them on the top of the dogs head (someplace you can glue them down).

Now, using Tear MenderTM fabric glue (yes, the brand matters), take the twisted hairs and glue them in place so that the ear stands up.

As you can see, it works and looks completely natural (these pictures where taken within 1 hour). The glue will wear off in time.
